his picture of Jeff is never gonna get old. It's part of what happened in the aftermath of the poker tournament I put together which I called the "Little League World Series of Poker", hosted by Andy and Liz who graciously donated their house. It was a no-limit Texas Hold'em tournament, but being the "little league" it was just a $5 buy in. No million dollar winners here! Sonnyboy a.k.a. "Josh" from the swank condo came down to visit and also to play in the tournament. I guess you can read all about that stuff and his his adventures in Southern California. You can also check out these pics that were taken by our good friend mike-y from Long Beach (and competetor in the tournament).
The I Love Trista page is actually getting more hits now than it was when it was on the front of Collegehumor.com -- it's been passed around and posted on various pages where people post links, different blogs, message boards, etc. etc. etc. Interestingly enough, a lot of it is on foreign language sites, especially Japanese and Spanish language sites. Crazy man, crazy. About 22,000 people have passed through there in the last week or so.
And like I mentioned last week -- It's funny how it's been there for so many years... in fact, it's straight up ancient by Internet standards, and only now has it really been discovered. And again, like I said last week... it's amazing how many people don't get the joke. Oh well. I guess some people will just never let themselves see past the obvious... and what boring lives they must lead!
Anyway, if you can read Japanese, please contact me, I'd really like to see what these Japanese sites are saying about the page, thanks!

eeing how wonderful the weather was looking this afternoon, I just had to go outside. But to where? What would I do? Well, not knowing exactly what I was looking for or what I was going to do, I drove to downtown San Diego and got some lunch at Horton Plaza. While walking around the Gaslamp quarter, I ran into a big anti-war protest. Maybe it's just me but isn't it just a teeny, tiny bit late for this? And are these people out here just on the general notion that war is bad? Cuz, maybe it was just this particular group, but I had to wonder if any of these people even thought about the meanings and implications of what they were saying.

This girl was saying something like "how about not killing people!", and for some reason felt like saying it to these cops where there to keep the peace. Yeah! Let's stop killing people because, you know, Saddam was doing a good enough job of it on his own, before we interfered!
Quite a few people were carrying signs saying "bring our troops home NOW!" -- yeah, that's a good idea, let's bring them home right now and leave the Iraqi people without any government in total anarchy! Yeah! Great idea! I'm not gonna argue about whether we should have been there in the first place. But to suggest that we should bring our trooops home right now is pretty freakin' shortsighted, is it not?
Anyway. Unlike most cities that put their airports far away from anywhere you would actually want to be, San Diego's airport is right next to downtown. And all the planes that land there skim over Banker's Hill on their way down to land... and they are pretty freakin' low when they go by this hill. So I thought, hey, wouldn't it be fun to be right under the planes?

It took some patience, but I managed to get a few decent shots... From that close, you can really see just how big these planes are (and these aren't even that big compared to like, a 747 or something), and when they are traveling as slow as they are for landing... it's mindblowing to think about the fact that they can get off the ground at all! You can see more plane and protest pics in my Giant Repository of Pics.
So after all that, I came back home, watched some TV, ate some dinner, etc. etc. etc. Around 11pm I got really, really restless. I had to go out. So I grabbed one of my guitars and headed for the beach. I ended up singing and playing guitar at the beach, in the rain, in front of a fire, with a couple of guys I didn't know, who in my best estimation were transients. But it was fun, and well, I really, really needed to be outside. Well, it wasn't really raining, more like a light drizzle. But it was enough to get everything wet. I think my guitar will be ok though.
