o in case you hadn't deduced it by looking at the pictures I posted in last week's update, Helen came down to visit for the long weekend. And aside from doing all the fun Mira Mesa 4th of July stuff, we also went to the San Diego County Fair last night. I dunno what county fairs mean to you, but to me they mean gorging myself on lots of fried foods that are bad for me but taste so good. There's some pics from that at the giant repository of pics. Aside from going to the fair, we also went and checked out Terminator 3 earlier that day.
You know, a lot of movies claim to be "action packed" but this one really was. Wall to wall action. Crazy action like you'd never believe, and I really, really appreciated the fact that very little of the movie was actually given away in the trailers. Going into it, I really had no idea about what the plot was gonna be, and had very little idea of what the action sequences were gonna be like.
For the last 10 or so years, I always thought one of the coolest shots in any action movie ever was from T2 where Arnold picked up the T1000 and smashed him into a cinder block wall, causing it to crack. Well, the fight scene in the bathroom between Arnold and the TX totally blows that away! And the whole crane thing... wow! This movie, in my opinion, just totally raised the bar for all future action movies.

Back to the fair... as you know, many county and state fairs have all kinds of competitions, and they hand out ribbons and stuff for the winners. Well, it just so happens that cyn entered in one of her brush paintings, and it won an "honorable mention" ribbon! Cami knew this already, so we actually set out to find it, and we even had a little contest saying that whoever spotted it would get to take a picture with it. Well, that person was me!
