ot a whole lot of activity on this update in a while... I've been furiously working on a couple of projects, along with having gotten sucked into the game "Metroid Prime" on Jeff's Game Cube. Last week we had a few days of constant rain, followed by a day of some really fabulous, clear weather. Since the air had been cleaned by all the rain, I thought it would be a prime opportunity to head on up to the top of Mount Soledad and try to put together a 360 degree panoramic view of San Diego. The results can be found on my giant repository of pics. I think it came out pretty well, and I gotta say, it's been a long, long time since I'd been up there with the weather so clear! Anyway, I hope you enjoy the pics!

I
saw one of the saddest sights I have ever seen while I was at the grocery store today. A young couple in their early to mid twenties, with a shopping cart full from bottom to top of frozen pizzas (at least 5), and TV dinners, and about 30 containers of Yoplait yogurt. A guy and a girl together, apparently living on their own, and neither of them can cook even the most basic of meals!? What a sad, sad world we live in.
I'm glad I live with Cami, who cooks, and cooks well, and I'm glad that I am also fairly proficient in the kitchen as well. Although I do consume quite a bit of fast food and microwave dinners, it's mainly out of laziness that I do it... I don't think I could handle it if every single meal I ever ate came out of the frozen foods section at the supermarket!
Now on a complete different note: I'm pretty sure it's not gonna last more than a season, but I love the new show on ABC 8 Simple Rules For Dating My Teenage Daughter, starring John Ritter. I like it because it's the embodiment of my worst nightmare -- having teenage daughters... that are attractive. I don't know how Cami's dad has survived having three beautiful daughters, but I'm sure that if I was him, I would have keeled over and had a heart attack by now. Just thinking back to what I was like when I was a teenager makes me shudder to think what teenaged guys will be thinking about my daughters when the time comes!!

or the two months since I completed my collection Star Trek: The Next Generation complete season DVD's, I've noticed that I haven't been watching them. Before the collection was complete, I simply watched the episodes in order while waiting for the next season's set to be released. I found that the reason why I wasn't watching them anymore was because I just couldn't choose an episode to watch. Choosing just one episode to watch out of a collection of 178 options was such a daunting task that it was just too difficult to do. So I ended up just giving up and not watching anything at all.
Well, being the huge nerd I am, and wanting to take advantage of this wonderful collection I have, I devised a great way to select an episode to watch. I specially prepared a deck of cards so that it would consist only of aces through sevens. A, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7; in each of the four suits. No, I did not go out and buy a deck of cards just to do this. Thanks to me also being a gambling nerd, I have many decks of cards around the house.
Anyway, there are 7 seasons, and 7 discs per season. I randomly choose 2 cards from the deck. The first card selects which season to watch, and the second card selets which disc from that season to watch. So, if I select a 4 and an Ace, I watch disc 1 of season 4. Each disc has 4 episodes on it, and then I just choose which one from that disc I want to watch. It's a lot easier to select from just 4 choices instead of having to try to choose from 178. Call me a huge nerd for even coming up with this system (or even owning all the episodes in the first place), but all I know is this system has allowed me to once again enjoy my TNG DVD collection.
I don't know why I decided to write a whole update just about this. Maybe I was just so proud of having devised such a neat and tidy system... or maybe it's just because I'm so glad to be watching these DVDs again. Who knows. Anyway. That's all. Good night.

I
seriously hope that every single one of those "human shield" people dies. This has absolutely nothing to do with my opinion on whether or not I think we should go to war with Iraq. I just think it's completely idiotic and arrogant for them to put themselves directly in the line of fire. Do these people really think that the simple fact that they are there is going to change the minds of the leaders of nations that are preparing to risk thousands of their own lives in order to pursue whatever it is they are pursuing?
I mean, what is their reasoning that makes them think war will stop because they are there? It's war, people are going to die, it's expected. So why are these people so special that we should stop a war over them? Maybe they think that because they are white or from the west that they are suddenly more important than the people who are already there that would have died anyway? I dunno. But this kind of behavior frustrates me to no end. And once again, it's got nothing to do with whether or not I think we should or shouldn't invade Iraq. It's got everything to do with people being ignorant, arrogant, and just plain stupid.
And now on a completely different note... my friend Scott and I are taking off tomorrow morning on our $uper $aver Vega$ trip. The object of the game? Have as much fun while spending as little money as possible. For the duration of this trip, I won't be collecting any comps and I won't be making any bets over $10. Just setting out to take advantage of the best values out there, and to have as much fun while we're at it. I can't wait! It will be great fun! I just hope the weather is not as bad as the forecasts are making them out to be...
