aturday morning I woke up, and for whatever reason, while I was still in bed, I decided that what I wanted to do with that day was just eat a whole lot of food. Go on a gluttonous rampage. I figured, hey, why not. So around noon I fixed myself some spaghetti where I added some spam to the sauce. After that I went to the supermarket to buy supplies for the rest of the day. I bought a big can of menudo, and around 3pm I had a big bowl of that, and it was very good. There is just something about menudo that makes you feel really goooooood after eating it... I don't know what it is.
At around 5:30 I fired up the barbeque and lit the coals. While I waited for the coals to ash over, I prepared about a half a pound (before cooking!) of mushrooms sauteed in butter, garlic, and red wine (whatever half bottle of merlot was left in the fridge). Then I slapped on a nice 2/3rd pound ribeye steak on the grill and ate that all with a bunch of rice.
A few hours later, I heated up another big bowl of menudo and had that. Finally, around 11pm or so, I made breakfast... two eggs, two sausages and a slice of toast. Yum. Some time after that I got hungry again, but I decided it would be better for me to go to bed. I think I literally could have eaten at least twice as much as I did, but hey, whatever. All I know is... I LOVE FOOD, and I think my stomach somehow lacks that "hey stop eating, I'm full" mechanism.
Today I went out for bagels with Cami and Jeff, and then we headed to Balboa Park where we checked out the San Diego Automotive Museum. They had some pretty cool stuff in there, but they had some pretty lame stuff in there as well, but overall, it was a fun experience. Later on I picked up Leanne from the airport, and well, that's about all that happened today. Exciting, eh?

oy, does this ever suck. I woke up at around 3:30 this morning and I haven't been able to fall back asleep since then. Well, at least I got to see Korea win their World Cup match against Portugal on ESPN2. Blah. Well, maybe I'll put in a last-ditch effort to try to get a couple hours of sleep because I got a long day today...

7:00pm

Well, I did manage to catch a few more hours of sleep before being stuck in traffic for hours driving up to the LA area. I'm at my folks' place now, not only for father's day, but tomorrow is my sister's college graduation ceremony! Yep. Welp, I'm off to Zac's place to go somewhere for dinner. Yay dinner.

Medical technology is amazing. Some people are actually developing a drug to help compulsive gamblers kick their addictions.

"The drug works by coaxing the brain into producing euphoric feelings that are similar to the feelings gamblers get when gambling, Thienhaus said. When gamblers get that "high" feeling from the medicine, they may be less inclined to succumb to their addictive urges to gamble.

The medication doesn't seem to work for alcoholics or other drug addicts because gambling cravings are expressed differently in the brain than these other cravings, Thienhaus said.

Very interesting. Check out the Las Vegas Review Journal for the whole story.
So Zac, Karen and I went out to Love's for dinner. This one in Lakewood, CA did not have the 1970's pimptastic decor that the one in San Diego has... but I was still able to stuff myself full of food, and I guess that is what is really important. Oh yeah, I have some pics from when me and Cami went out to look at the eclipse this week, but I can't get to them from where I am right now, so I guess you'll just have to see them later.

ongratulations to my sister Leslie for graduating with the UC Riverside class of 2002. Being that this ceremony was to be held in Riverside and outdoors, I was afraid it was going to be scorching hot, but it didn't start until 6pm and it ended up not being all that bad after all. The fact that it started at 6pm was also fortunate because it meant the ceremony was over by 7:30 -- just in time for the sun to be setting and showering wonderful, beautiful, warm light on all the people below who are taking their pictures with their family and friends... including ours -- you can see my pics by clicking that one above, or by going to my better, faster, giant repository that is now open 24 hours a day by clicking HERE.
Afterwards we went to dinner at a greek restaurant with 35 of my sister's closest friends and family. Like woah. Anyway. That leaves me as the sole person unedjumucated person in my family. Or at least the only one without the piece of paper that is supposed to say you have been properly educated. And I do not have any immediate plans to change that situation. But that's a whole other issue entirely.
