ou probably can't tell by this fabulous view from the window, but I'm in VEGAS, BABY!! I'm mainly out here to scout out locations to have the riceboypage.com meet that is going to be in august. I'm staying at Casino Royale with my friend Scott and well, while this room is pefectly clean, it is a bit small, and as you can see, it has quite a beautiful view, haha. But then again, I'm staying here for free, so I probably shouldn't complain too much.
There appears to be a big Harley convention in town (actually I think it's in Laughlin, but probably all the hotel rooms are sold out there)... there are some pretty nice bikes here, and they are all over the place. Anyway. Time to go outside.

ow, the weather has been absolutely perfect today!! It was pretty windy yesterday, but today it was perfect... partly cloudy and warm (not hot) with a nice cool breeze to keep things cool the whole day. Simply amazing. It's just sad that the time for such great weather in Vegas is so short and once it gets hot, it'll probably stay that way for at least 5 months until the fall. And then of course in the winters it gets cold. But yes, I got the opportunity to truly relish in the beautiful weather today and it was good.
You've probably heard by now about the shootings in Laughlin. As far as I know, nothing like that has reached Vegas, but there are still quite a few bikers here... but anyway... Scott and I spent most of today wandering around Vegas looking for possible locations to hold the riceboypage meet, and well, it was quite a challenge. The size of our group is somewhat awkward -- with between 30 and 40 people expected, we are too big (and definitely too rowdy) for a hotel suite (which is what we tried last year with only 20 people but ended up getting kicked out because of noise within 2 hours), but we are too small to get a convention room (where you really need at least 60 people attending to keep it affordable), but I think I found a pretty good location to hold this event.
Finally, I'll talk about the photos below. I haven't been to Hawaii since I was like 12 years old, so I don't remember much about it, but I keep hearing everybody talk about ABC stores and how they are all over Hawaii. Well, now there is one in Downtown Las Vegas, in the old Pioneer Club building... It was kind of weird as it was a Hawaiian themed store selling mostly a mix of cheesy Hawaii and Las Vegas souveniers. A combination that perhaps only the Hawaiians staying at the Cal can fully appreciate. The other is of a couple of signs that you can find near Freemont Street that have been resurrected from historical Vegas locations. Pretty cool.

know I usually start new update pages on Sunday, I am currently in Scott's car on the way back from Vegas, and we are stuck in some traffic in the middle of the desert, so I decided to just take a few pics and write this little thing while I was sitting in the car. We tried to stop in Stateline to ride the Desperado roller coaster, but it was closed, so we ended up riding the lame log ride instead. For a log ride, it's pretty lame, but it does have the twist of also being a floating shooting gallery. You get these wireless guns to shoot at targets and keep score. Some of the targets are just little lights to shoot at, but others are mechanical people who you shoot at... and some of them shoot water back at you! That was sort of a surprise.
All in all, I had a fun weekend, but I kinda miss home already, so I'll be glad when we get back. Anyway. I now bring you some photos from the desert that I just took.
