egoland is pretty cool. It's definitely very kid-oriented, with no real thrill rides or anything like that, however, there is a whole bunch of cool stuff to see and do at the park. Cami's brother Kirk, Cami, Jeff and I got there around 10 this morning, and hit up all the new rides first, because we figured those would be the ones that would get the longest line...
Well, actually, we didn't do that until they made me first go on this horrible fairy tale boat ride, which had me floating down a river on a boat past various fairy tale characters such as the 3 little pigs and little red riding hood -- all built out of legos, of course. It was terribly boring but they wanted me to experience it because they assured me things would only get better.
And they did. The Technicoaster was really cool. It's really an overgrown version of a kid's roller coaster at a larger amusement park, but it was definitely fun. Actually, all of the rides were particularly fun.
One thing I noticed about this park vs. other amusment parks is that it's a whole lot more interactive than other parks. There are telescopes that you can look through (without paying extra money!), a huge playground/obstacle course/slide area, and my personal favorite -- at most of the water rides, around the outskirts where people hang out and watch, there are buttons you can push that will make explosions of water, which if you time it right, you can get the people on the rides wet! Now that's pretty fun to do :)
But I definitely do not want to leave out the amazing lego sculptures around the park, particularly Miniland, where they have HUGE, and incredibly detailed models of New York, San Francisco, Washington DC, New Orleans and a big harbor, all created entirely with lego blocks. The detail is just amazing, with cops busting criminals in New Orleans (while a person hides around the corner capturing it on film), to the inside of Grand Central Station bustling with people... I was totally in awe, and it's something you definitely have to see.
Um. But yeah. Don't waste your time with the Life On Mars show... it was the most overwhelmingly mind-numbingly sucky live show I've ever seen in my whole life, featuring an astronaut and two martians who sing and dance... except all of their dance moves are from like 1991, and I felt like I was watching a Kid & Play video.... which I guess wouldn't be too bad if this show was created in say, 1991, but this is a new show this summer :)
But overall, I had a really great time, and highly recommend it for kids, and the kids at heart!
